Lake
Ljubljana, Slovenia
What it is
Lake is an iOS coloring app built around hand-drawn books from independent illustrators. Its catalog contains over 1,500 unique illustrations, with additional coloring books planned. Tools include artistic brushes, color palettes, a color picker, and a rainbow with over 700 shades. You can color freeform, work offline, and import your own images. Lake presents coloring as a way to support mindfulness, relieve anxiety, and unwind, and says part of each subscription fee goes directly to artists. The app is available in English and 10 other languages, and the maker says its journey began in 2016 by connecting illustrators with fans for co-creation. Lake is listed as free with in-app purchases and a free trial. Listed options are $9.99 a month, $39.99 a year, and Lake Premium at $29.99, paid once, with no term specified for that purchase. Apple says the developer may collect several data types not linked to the user.
