What it is
H5P lets authors create, share and reuse interactive content such as videos, presentations, games and quizzes. Featured formats include Interactive Video, Course Presentation and Branching Scenario, and content can be viewed or edited in a browser. Core-team plugins support WordPress, Drupal and Moodle. H5P.com adds LTI integrations including Canvas, Brightspace, Blackboard and Moodle; its content can also be embedded where iframes are supported or opened by direct link. The free open-source software is offered under an MIT license, but self-hosting requires Drupal, WordPress or Moodle, and the plugin does not include content types. The self-hosted plugin has no support included. H5P.com’s trial requires an application and, if approved, lasts 30 days. After it ends, users have 14 days to buy a plan or save and export content; activities are then inaccessible unless exported. H5P validates package files and sanitizes author input, but answers are evaluated client-side, which the service says technically knowledgeable users can exploit to cheat.
