Google Earth Engine
What it is
Google Earth Engine combines satellite imagery and geospatial datasets with planetary-scale analysis for detecting change, mapping trends and measuring surface differences. Its public archive contains over eighty petabytes of geospatial data and more than thirty years of historical imagery, expanded daily. The web Code Editor is a JavaScript IDE with map visualization, interactive queries, geometry tools, task management, API reference and Git-based script management. Python and JavaScript APIs support local client-library use. Earth Engine integrates with Google Cloud and BigQuery for loading tables, running queries and exporting results. Named interoperability includes TensorFlow, PyTorch, Apache Beam, Spark, Dask, NumPy, Pandas, GeoPandas and Xee. Shareable Apps let stakeholders explore analyses. Eligible noncommercial users may qualify for no-cost access under restrictions; commercial and government operational use is charged. Pricing includes usage-based storage and compute, plus paid tiers from $500 a month.
