GitPLM
What it is
GitPLM manages product manufacturing information alongside product designs in Git. It is designed for small teams building products and brings together bills of materials, part numbers, and manufacturing release data. The tool combines source BOMs with partmaster data, builds combined BOMs across subassemblies, and gathers release information for custom components. Its terminal interface supports column searches, per-column parametric searches, editing, and datasheet links. GitPLM can provide a parts database to KiCad through KiCad’s HTTP Libraries feature and reload data when CSV files change. Optional release hooks can run tools such as KiCad’s InteractiveHtmlBom generator; those hooks are supported on Linux and macOS. Partmaster and BOM records use CSV, while release configuration uses YAML. The KiCad HTTP server can require an authentication token. GitPLM is a self-contained Go binary without dependencies, runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows, and is deployed on-premise. It is free under Apache 2.0.
For and against
For
- Combines BOM and partmaster information
- Supports combined BOMs across subassemblies
- Provides KiCad HTTP Libraries integration
- Offers terminal search and editing tools
- Runs as a dependency-free Go binary
Against
- Release hooks support Linux and macOS only
- Deployment is on-premise
- No paid plans or usage limits are stated
The verdict
GitPLM brings manufacturing data, revision control, and release workflows into a Git-centered tool. Its KiCad connection and self-contained binary suit small teams, while release-hook platform support is narrower than the main application.
Who it suits
GitPLM suits small product teams that keep designs and manufacturing records in Git, especially those using KiCad and CSV-based data.
