Espressif-IDE
What it is
Espressif-IDE is a free desktop development environment for building IoT applications with ESP-IDF. It is based on Eclipse CDT, runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows, and supports C and C++. Project wizards create projects from scratch or from more than 100 ESP-IDF example templates. An LSP editor supplies code completion, navigation, and real-time diagnostics. Build support follows ESP-IDF’s CMake system and includes a visual editor for Kconfig options. The ESP-IDF Manager installs, manages, and switches among multiple ESP-IDF versions. Device workflows support UART, JTAG, and DFU flashing. Debugging includes OpenOCD over JTAG, GDB stub debugging, core dump analysis, heap tracing, and application-level tracing. A serial monitor, ESP-IDF terminal, and Wokwi Simulator support are included. It can be installed standalone or added to Eclipse through Marketplace or an update site. Version 3.0 and later supports ESP-IDF 5.x and above; earlier ESP-IDF releases require version 2.12.1.
