Equinix Fabric
Redwood City, California, United States
What it is
Equinix Fabric is a software-defined interconnection service for linking distributed infrastructure with cloud and network providers, business partners, other Equinix customers, and a company’s own deployments. Customers manage connections through the Equinix Customer Portal, REST APIs, or Terraform. Individual links range from 10 Mbps to 50 Gbps for local networks and up to 25 Gbps for regional and global networks. Physical ports are offered in 1, 10, and 100 Gbps configurations, subject to data-center availability. Monthly charges may cover ports, virtual connections, Fabric Cloud Routers, and IP blocks; a private network can be created before connections are added. Cloud options include Azure ExpressRoute, Google Cloud Router examples, and Oracle FastConnect. Developer resources include Java, Go, and Python SDKs plus Terraform and Pulumi providers. Equinix lists availability SLAs of 99.9% for single connections and 99.999% for redundant connections. MACsec is supported on certain ports, while Equinix does not provide encryption services. Pricing is on request, with a seven-day trial listed.
