Downdetector
What it is
Downdetector collects user reports and monitors other online sources to show when services may be experiencing problems. It flags an incident when reports rise significantly above the average for that time of day over the previous six months, then reevaluates service status continuously and updates it every four minutes. The service says it covers over 36,000 services in 72 countries and processes tens of millions of reports each month. Consumers can check service status through the free plan, which supports up to five favorites and notifications through the Speedtest app subject to daily limits. Pro costs $13.99 a month and adds favorites, notifications, and ad-free access on web and in the Speedtest app. For organizations, Explorer provides a live multi-service dashboard, geographic breakdowns, configurable alerts, and historical analysis. Communicate lets companies publish status updates on their Downdetector pages. Downdetector is available on Android, iOS, web, and API, and mobile access is also available in the Speedtest app. A free trial is listed.
