Dosh
Bloemfontein, South Africa
What it is
Dosh is an earned wage access platform for employees of participating companies, letting them request part of the pay they have already earned before payday. It connects to an employer’s payroll system and tracks accrued wages through the pay cycle. Eligible employees can access up to 25% of monthly salary, with one advance per week by default; an employer may set a different limit. Dosh charges a flat 10% transaction fee on the amount requested. The accessed amount and fee come out of normal pay on the next payday and appear as a payslip item. For example, a R500 request means R550 is deducted on payday. Approved funds go to a bank account or mobile wallet, often within minutes. Dosh describes this as wage access rather than a loan, with no credit check or interest. Employees need to work for a Dosh partner with integrated payroll. Sign-up requires a South African ID, active mobile number, bank account details, and three months of recent bank statements. The Android app is available on Google Play; Dosh says iOS is coming soon. The company says it does not sell personal data and uses encryption, access controls, and audit trails.
