Dolby Vision Professional Tools
San Francisco, California, USA
What it is
Dolby Vision Professional Tools is a command-line suite for Dolby Vision post-production processing and quality control. Its workflows help content creators prepare HDR and SDR material for consistent presentation across HDR and legacy SDR devices. Metafier edits and verifies XML metadata, CM Offline renders Rec. 709 and other deliverables, and Mezzinator creates Dolby Vision mezzanines. CM Analyze generates shot- or frame-based analysis metadata from HDR10 files and can create MaxFLL and MaxCLL values for Dolby Vision XML. Masters can be exported as image sequences with XML metadata, or as IMF packages or J2K mezzanines with interleaved metadata. The free tools are available for Linux, macOS, and Windows. Many professional grading and mastering systems include analysis metadata creation at no charge. A one-time Trims License costs $1,000 and enables artistic trim controls for home and cinema targets; it may be used on multiple machines in a facility. Dolby notes that partner support and potential additional costs vary, so users should check with each partner.
