DocxLens
What it is
DocxLens is a web tool for comparing documents in synchronized side-by-side columns with scroll lock. It handles PDF, DOCX, DOC, XLSX, XLS, CSV, JSON, TXT, MD, and more than 15 code file types. Scanned or image-based PDFs without a text layer can be read through Tesseract OCR. Excel and CSV files are compared sheet by sheet, including cell values, formula results, and data columns. Code and JSON comparisons use syntax-aware line differences with word-level highlights for languages including JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Go, Java, and PHP. The service uses the Myers algorithm for line-level changes and word-level comparison for inline edits. Users can download a plain-text summary with line numbers and change types. Files are processed in the browser with WebAssembly, and the site says they are never uploaded to a server. After processors initialize, PDF, Word, and Excel extraction can work offline. The free plan costs nothing, requires no signup, allows five documents at once, and limits each file to 20MB.
