CodingBat
What it is
CodingBat is a free browser-based site for practicing Java and Python with live coding problems. Enter code in a browser text area and select Go to save, compile, run it, and see the result. Nothing needs to be installed. Problems become harder toward the end of each section, and some offer hints or solution code; every Warmup section has solutions available. The exercises are intended for homework, self-study, labs, and lecture examples. An account saves code and completion checkmarks, provides a completed-problems page, and includes progress graphs and code badges. Accounts can share information with a teacher account, whose report lists students and their completed-problem counts. Without an account, work is forgotten after a session ends following two hours without activity. Users can also create custom pages and author Java or Python problems. CodingBat says it does not send marketing email, sell contact information for marketing, or publicly identify users. Its cookies maintain login sessions, and it says it does not use third-party cookies.
