Cloud Commander
What it is
Cloud Commander is a browser-based file manager for working with servers, files, directories, and programs. It combines two file panels with a command-line console and text editor, and can switch to a single panel for smaller screens or by configuration. Its file tools cover viewing, editing, copying, moving, renaming, uploading, downloading, and packing or extracting archives. The viewer handles images and text files and plays audio and video. Three built-in editors—Dword, Edward, and Deepword—include syntax highlighting. Dropbox integration supports basic file and directory management, viewing, and editing, but excludes remote console or terminal access and operation-progress display. Cloud Commander can be installed through npm or deployed as a Docker container or Docker Compose service. Authorization is optional, and the documentation says configuration stores a password hash rather than a plain-text password; SSL can be configured through an Nginx reverse proxy. The terminal is not installed or enabled by default: enabling it requires installing gritty and configuring its path. The software is free and open source under the MIT License.
