Chromatic
What it is
Chromatic is a cloud service for checking interface states across browsers and supporting reviewer sign-off. It runs visual, interaction, and accessibility tests, and integrates with Storybook, Vitest, Playwright, and Cypress. Browser coverage includes Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. TurboSnap identifies changed tests and can reduce test-run usage costs by up to 80%. Chromatic connects with CI and Git tools, reports status back to CI, and adds a pull-request badge; build notifications can also go to a designated Slack channel by webhook. The service reports SOC 2 Type 2 compliance, annual third-party penetration testing, and 99.9% uptime. It says connections are encrypted in transit, stored data is encrypted at rest with 256-bit AES, and source code is neither stored nor accessed. All plans guarantee at least 12 months of build and snapshot retention. The Free plan includes 5,000 billed snapshots per month; review and testing pause after that allowance is exhausted. Starter is $179 a month, and Pro is $399 a month.
