What it is
Castro is a podcast player for Apple devices, with a Queue for adding and reordering episodes and playing them automatically. Episodes in the Queue can download over Wi-Fi, and offline downloads, transcripts, private feeds, and cross-device sync are supported. Playback speeds can be set from 0.8x to 3x. Trim Silence can reduce listening time by 10–20% without changing audio quality. Listeners can use podcast chapters, share episodes, and set per-podcast options such as auto-queue, audio filters, playback speed, and intro skipping. Castro also supports CarPlay and lets Apple Watch users control playback and browse the Queue. Personal audio can be imported from iCloud Drive. Castro Plus adds advanced playback, sideloading, Night Mode, and custom icons. The app supports iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and Apple Watch. A free plan is available; paid plans start at $3.99 per month, with annual and family plans also listed.
