Blaze
What it is
Blaze is a build system focused mainly on monorepos, with tools for running general tasks and supporting productivity work. It coordinates tasks across a repository and manages dependencies between projects. Parallel execution and a configurable cache help teams reuse completed work; the cache is local, with no remote caching. A task graph is available, though Blaze does not report affected builds or define workspace boundaries. Configuration options include JSON, YAML, and Jsonnet, with advanced templating, and a plugin system runs tasks through executors. Blaze says it works with any language or framework without changing application code. It leaves application dependency management, code analysis, and tracking a project’s technologies outside its scope. Teams can keep integration and deployment processes in the monorepo and write them once for reuse. Linux, macOS, and Windows are supported. The Free plan is free and is absolutely free to use. Blaze is still under development, with its site inviting help ahead of an alpha release.
