Bare Browser
What it is
Bare Browser is a free, open-source Chromium browser for Android 10 and newer. It presents itself as de-Googled, with DuckDuckGo set as the default search engine and settings for adding others. Chrome Web Store extensions are supported, including Bitwarden and Dark Reader, while a removable uBlock Origin extension is included for ad blocking. Bare keeps Manifest V2 available. Supported video can continue with audio when you switch apps or lock the phone. Downloads may remain in the browser or be handed to an external manager such as 1DM. Bare says it removes telemetry, Google sign-in prompts, Firebase registration and built-in AI surfaces. Browsing data stays in the local browser profile, without Bare cloud synchronization or a required Bare account. Some network activity remains for Chromium security updates, filter-list updates and checks that may contact GitHub. Safe Browsing is unavailable in this public Chromium build. The current release is alpha; APKs and notes are linked through GitHub, while Google Play and F-Droid are coming soon.
