Auslearn
Chermside West, Queensland, Australia
What it is
Auslearn is a mobile app for learning Australian Sign Language (Auslan) through video lessons and practice between classes. Each sign is demonstrated by a Deaf signer. Its learning path contains 61 lessons across 12 units, with more than 250 signs on video. Visual quizzes give instant feedback, while review revisits signs from recent lessons. Daily practice, streaks, achievements, daily and weekly challenges, and mirror practice provide additional ways to practise. The app also includes dictionary lookup and progress tracking, and is available for iOS and Android phones and tablets. Auslearn is aimed at beginners and people practising between Auslan classes. Its maker says it does not replace learning from Deaf teachers or signing with the community. Guest mode does not require an email, and account deletion permanently removes personal data and learning progress from Auslearn's systems.
