What it is
AntennaPod is a free, open-source podcast player for Android that lets listeners subscribe to RSS feeds. Episodes can be downloaded for offline listening or queued to stream without downloading. The app can automatically download new episodes and remove them after playback, and it supports video podcasts and private feeds. Subscriptions and listening progress can be synchronized through gPodder.net or compatible self-hosted services, including Nextcloud with gPodder Sync. Playback through Android Auto is documented; Chromecast is supported except in the F-Droid version. The app stores data locally and contains no advertising or third-party tracking and analytics code. Podcast search and discovery may send queries and an IP address to Apple, PodcastIndex.org or fyyd, while synchronization can share account and listening data with the selected provider. The project is maintained by volunteers and directs users to its community forum for help. AntennaPod is officially published through Google Play and F-Droid, though the project does not maintain the F-Droid repository.
