Overview

Anghami is a music streaming service for Arabic and international songs, as well as podcasts. It is a strong fit for listeners who want Arabic music and can use a free tier, with Plus aimed at people who need offline playback and more control over tracks. Its main trade-off is that paid-plan prices depend on the plan and, in the examples provided, the Egyptian market.

Founded in 2012, Anghami launched in Beirut and is now headquartered in Abu Dhabi. The service spans mobile, desktop and web, with additional support for connected devices and car systems.

Key features

• Free listening: The free plan lets listeners play songs and radios, discover and create playlists, and share music and playlists. That is enough for casual listening and playlist browsing, but listeners wanting offline downloads, ad-free playback or unlimited skips need Plus.
• Plus playback: Plus adds offline downloads, ad-free listening, unlimited skips, lyrics, and controls to rewind, replay and scrub through tracks. Those upgrades make the paid tier more practical for regular listeners and travel; it still does not offer lossless audio, and its maximum stated quality is high.
• Desktop app: A mini player, music upload, offline playback and keyboard hot keys make the desktop app useful for people who manage music from a computer as well as stream it.
• Car and voice support: CarPlay includes discovery, Anghami Radios, likes, playlists and Personal DJ playlists. Android Auto requires Android 6.0 or later and the latest Anghami app. The Alexa Skill supports songs, podcasts, likes, downloads and playlists, and is available in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
• Personalization and privacy: Anghami uses personal information for recommendations and targeted promotions and offers. It says personal data is confidential, is not sold or shared with third parties, and is stored with modern encryption standards. Those recommendations come with a clear personalization and promotion trade-off.

Pricing

Anghami is freemium. The Free plan costs free and includes songs, playlist discovery and creation, sharing, and radios. It is the sensible starting point for casual listeners, but it does not include the Plus playback benefits.

Anghami Plus has two Egypt-specific examples: $2.50 a month for a website bank-card monthly plan, or 69.99 EGP a month through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Both include offline downloads, ad-free listening, unlimited skips, lyrics, and rewind, replay and scrub controls. The difference in currency and purchase channel matters, so check which applies before subscribing.

Eligible new users can get a 14-day Plus trial through Apple App Store or Google Play. It auto-renews unless cancelled before expiry, so set a reminder if you only want to try the service. Student is offered with custom pricing. The Family Plan also has custom pricing and covers six accounts, making it the option to consider when several people need access.

Platforms

Anghami supports Android, iOS, macOS, web and Windows. Its device support also includes iPhone and iPad, desktop and laptop, CarPlay, Android Auto, PlayStation, wearables, TVs, Apple TV and Chromecast. The broad device range suits listeners who switch between phone, computer, car and home playback.

Who it's for

Anghami makes the most sense for listeners seeking Arabic and international music alongside podcasts, especially those who value radios and playlist discovery. Free is a reasonable choice for basic streaming and sharing; Plus is better for frequent listeners who need downloads, fewer playback interruptions and track controls. It is a weaker fit for anyone who requires lossless audio or prefers a paid price that is not tied to an Egypt-specific example.

Pros and cons

• Pro: The free plan includes both song and radio playback, plus playlist discovery, creation and sharing, so listeners can do more than simply sample the service.
• Pro: Plus combines offline listening with ad-free playback, unlimited skips, lyrics and track controls, covering several everyday reasons to upgrade.
• Pro: Support across major mobile, desktop and web platforms, plus car and connected-device options, gives listeners multiple ways to use the service.
• Con: The Plus price examples are specific to Egypt and differ by purchase channel, which makes them a poor basis for assuming the cost elsewhere.
• Con: The 14-day trial renews automatically unless cancelled before it ends, so a trial requires attention to its expiry.
• Con: High is the maximum stated audio quality and lossless audio is not supported, limiting its appeal to listeners who prioritize that format.

Alternatives

Music Streaming Software is a useful place to compare services. Consider Pandora if personalized stations and podcasts matter more; its free tier includes both and unlocks unlimited skips by viewing an ad. Amazon Music is worth considering for Prime members, since Amazon Music Prime is included with Prime membership and offers ad-free music and podcasts, plus offline listening for All-Access Playlists.

Deezer offers an ad-supported free plan with over 120 million songs, a point of comparison for listeners prioritizing a stated catalog size. Spotify Prompted Playlists may suit someone specifically seeking that product. Playary is another option to compare. AWA may suit listeners comfortable with a free-plan cap of 20 hours of playback per month. Calm Radio is more apt for a channel-focused listener: its free tier offers 200 music channels with no time limit. IDAGIO is an alternative to consider for classical listening.

Verdict

Choose Anghami if Arabic and international music, podcasts, playlist tools and broad device support matter more than lossless sound. Its free tier is useful for basic listening, while Plus adds practical offline and playback benefits. Look elsewhere if lossless audio is essential, or if you need a paid price you can confidently compare outside the Egypt-specific examples.
