What it is
1Focus is a macOS app that blocks distracting websites and applications during focused work or study. Its free version can block unlimited sites in Safari, Chrome, Brave, Edge, Opera, and Arc, plus unlimited apps including email tools. It can also block internet access by blocking installed browsers and the App Store. Free blocks last up to six hours. Pro adds longer durations, recurring schedules such as weekdays during working hours, allowlists, multiple block lists, limited pausing, and URL keyword or category blocking. Users can configure confirmed blocks to resist bypassing; once active, a block cannot be canceled. The app says it does not collect personal data, upload data, or store visited-app and website information. Pro sends only a category-version number for updates. 1Focus was created in 2014 by German programmer Niklas Behrens and is offered through the Mac App Store. Pro includes a 14-day trial.
