Samsung Galaxy S5 Gold variant coming to all major carriers

T Mobile earlier announced that it would start selling the Galaxy S5 in ‘shimmering metallic gold’ beginning May 30th. Now, it turns that this will be the launch date for all of the major carriers in the US. By the end of the month, the limited edition Gold Galaxy S5 will also be available from the likes of AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular, and Verizon.

One of the highlights of the Galaxy S5 is the fingerprint scanner on the home button, a heart rate sensor placed near the 16-megapixel camera and the IP67 certification that makes it dust and water-resistant. The smartphone also features a new design with a perforated back panel, wider availability of colors, and optional designer back panels.

Key specs on the Galaxy S5 include a 5.10-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels at a pixel density of 432 pixels per inch (ppi) and an aspect ratio of 16:9. Under the hood, the handset gets powered by a Snapdragon 801 processor paired with 2GB of RAM. The Samsung Galaxy S5 runs Android 4.4.2 and packs a 2800mAh removable battery.

As far as the cameras are concerned, the Samsung Galaxy S5 on the rear packs a 16-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a pixel size of 1.12-micron. The rear camera setup has phase detection autofocus. It sports a 2-megapixel camera on the front for selfies, with an f/2.4 aperture.

Customize your Gear 2 with stylish interchangeable bands

Looking to amp your style quotient with new bands for the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches? Well, worry not, as you can easily swap the original bands with the ones that suit your style. Both devices use the standard 22mm band, so there are a plethora of options for both the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo when it comes to customization.

“One way to stand out is to coordinate your bands with the season, your outfit or your mood. Since the new Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo both use a standard 22mm band, you can change bands to customize your look and personalize your style to keep your Gear 2 on trend whether you’re going to work or out for the night with friends.
We’re sharing photos to inspire your style, but the possibilities are endless. Stand out in a crowd by trying a stainless steel band for a classic look or a red leather band for a pop of color,” Samsung stated in a press release.

For now, there’s no mention of the availability of these stylish bands from Samsung stores or anywhere else. That said, the 22mm band size for both the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo makes one thing clear – just walk into any branded watch store and easily swap the band to suit your style.
